What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is the only dental restoration that replaces the entire tooth from root to crown. They are increasingly popular because they are permanent, so they will not slip or fall out.

The base of a dental implant is the artificial tooth root, which is a titanium post that anchors the restoration to your jaw. This provides a stable structure and also continues to stimulate your jaw like your natural tooth root would, which prevents bone loss and preserves your facial muscles and features.

An abutment connects the implant post to the crown, bridge, or denture. The restoration is custom-made to match the size, shape, and color of the missing teeth. We are passionate about creating a smile you will love, which is why we note every detail, including color-matching your restoration so that it blends beautifully with your smile.

What Are Mini-Implants?

A mini dental implant is smaller than a traditional implant. These may be used for those who do not have enough jawbone to support a traditional implant. They tend to be a bit simpler in design, but they still perform the function that a natural tooth would, preserving the jawbone and providing a secure base for the crown of the restoration.

Dental Crowns: If you are missing a single tooth, then a dental crown is a great choice for your restoration. An implant-supported crown can replace any missing tooth, from incisors to molars. It's important to select a reliable dental restoration when you're missing a tooth because even the loss of a single tooth will compromise your oral health. When there's a gap, your remaining natural teeth will shift to fill the void. When you choose our dental implants, it protects your bite by maintaining the natural spacing of your teeth.

Dental Bridges: If you are missing multiple teeth in a row, an implant-supported bridge may be right for you. A dental bridge can replace 3-4 missing teeth, and they consist of two implant-supported crowns on either side of a pontic, which is a prosthetic tooth. These restorations may be used anywhere in your smile, and the artificial teeth will be carefully designed to look and feel natural.

Implant-Supported Dentures: Implant-supported dentures are available in a variety of configurations, including partial dentures and full dentures. Partial dentures are used when you have a few remaining healthy teeth. Full dentures replace the upper, lower, or both arches to rejuvenate your ability to eat, speak, and smile with ease. Full implant dentures typically use 6-8 implants to support each dental arch. Our office also performs the qualifying exam for All-on-4® dentures.

Our Process

Our compassionate team believes that you deserve quality care from the moment you set up your appointment to the moment you leave our office with your new smile. That is why we make you our priority every step of the way. We begin every treatment journey with a thorough exam and review of your health history. Our dentist will discuss our findings with you and the options that will boost your oral health.

We encourage you to ask questions and share your concerns, and we are happy to provide the answers you need to make an informed decision regarding your oral health. Once you have chosen the dental implant option you are interested in, we will craft a treatment plan tailored to your specific situation.

The implant-supported restoration journey begins with placing the titanium post, which will anchor the restoration to your jaw. You will take time to heal and allow the implant post to fuse with your jawbone, a process called osseointegration. Once your jaw has healed, we will place your custom restoration via the abutment to the artificial tooth root.

We will discuss aftercare instructions and how to maintain your dental implant, then you will leave our office ready to show off your smile.
